What is the PYP?
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) is an internationally recognized curriculum framework for students ages 3–12, focused on inquiry, global citizenship, and whole-child development.

What grades follow the PYP at our school?
PreK3 (Gan Hillel) through Grade 7 all follow the IB PYP framework, tailored to support students at each developmental stage.

How many Units of Inquiry per year? Students in Grades 1–7 explore six transdisciplinary Units of Inquiry per year. PreK and Kindergarten students engage in four thoughtfully designed units, developmentally paced for early learners.

Is IB a curriculum or a framework? It’s a framework—which means we teach state and Judaic standards through the lens of IB’s inquiry model.

What makes IB unique? IB students don’t just memorize facts—they ask questions, investigate topics, take action, and reflect on their learning.

What skills does IB build? Students develop key Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills: thinking, communication, social, self-management, and research.

What is the IB Learner Profile? A set of 10 traits we nurture in all students—like being caring, principled, reflective, knowledgeable, and open-minded.

Is IB a good fit for all learners? Yes! The PYP is designed to be inclusive, flexible, and personalized, supporting students of all learning styles and abilities.

Do students take IB exams? Not in the PYP! Assessment is ongoing and formative. Teachers use student observations, projects, and reflections to guide learning.

What’s the ultimate goal of IB? To help students become curious, capable, and compassionate global citizens—ready to make a difference in the world.
