Dear Friends,
Hillel Community Day School’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce Sara Futerman as our 2010 Annual Scholarship Dinner honoree. The dinner will be held on June 9, 2010 at Temple Beth El in Rochester, NY.
Hillel Community Day School is Rochester’s leading Jewish day school, offering an innovative and comprehensive General and Judaic studies curriculum. Each year, we publish a Commemorative Journal to raise funds for our scholarship program. This year’s Journal is dedicated to and will highlight the contributions of Sara Futerman, who has touched many lives in our community over the years.
Sara, who was born in Poland and survived Auschwitz, lost much of her immediate and extended family during the Holocaust. She moved to Rochester in 1958, and with her beloved husband Mike (z"l), founder of Hahn Automotive Warehouse, Inc., has made giving back to her community a priority while leading the way as her children and their families have made volunteer community activities their passion, too. The Futerman Family Foundation at the Jewish Community Federation actively supports many charitable causes locally, nationally and internationally, including the University of Rochester Medical Center, the Cancer Wellness Spa, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Ammunition Hill Israel Education Fund. Most recently, the Foundation supported the Joint Distribution Committee's on-the-ground efforts in Haiti. An active member of the JCC and Temple Beth El, and a Hillel parent and grandparent, she and her family have been strong supporters of Hillel Community Day School for many years.
We hope you will join us in honoring Sara Futerman by placing an ad in our Commemorative Journal. The Commemorative Journal and its Scholarship Dinner program is our most significant fund raising venture of the year. Your participation in this Journal will help to provide critical scholarships so that children of all interested families may partake in the excellent education provided by Hillel Community Day School.
We would like to thank all of our supporters for their past contributions, and we hope that once again this year, you will be able to join us as we honor Sara Futerman.
