Hillel Community Day School offers an exceptional education that enriches children intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. At the core of our program is the integration of rigorous General Studies with innovative Judaic Studies. In addition to Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies, our students celebrate Jewish holidays and study Torah, Jewish history, and Hebrew language. Our challenging curriculum develops students not only to excel academically, but also to make positive choices in a complex society. Small classes, outstanding teachers, and age-appropriate creative programming add to Hillel’s appeal. Hillel Community Day School is a full day General and Judaic Studies private school for Kindergarten through 8th Grade. Since 1947, Hillel School has welcomed students of all backgrounds and affiliations. The school was founded by a group of concerned community members that felt it was of the utmost importance for Rochester to have a Jewish day school. An important policy was made right from the start—that the school would not be affiliated with any one congregation or denomination, but would be representative of the Jewish community overall. Its vision was to be that of a progressive American Jewish Day School.

Today, our student population ranges from conservative to reform, orthodox and the unaffiliated. Regardless of affiliation, all of our students receive an exceptional education and the warmth of a community that last a lifetime. Hillel Community Day School is also a member of the Greater Rochester Association of Private Schools (GRAPS). The school day runs from 8:00am to 3:15pm for all grades. We offer a full day Kindergarten Program, pullout Science, Art and Music and Physical Education programs for all ages. A daily hot kosher lunch is included in tuition.

“I love Hillel and the first time you visit the school, you will love it too! You will have so many friends and teachers who you get to know very well. Every day, I wake up and I’m excited to go to school. If you have Mrs. Buff, you are very lucky and will like her as much as I do. In her class, she makes up a town called “Bufftown” where each of us has a job and we have our own government. If there is a problem, we work it out in class, using the rules of our government.
