HCDS is a Full day secular and Judaic studies private school for Kindergarten through 8th grade. Since 1947, Hillel School has welcomed students of all backgrounds and affiliations. The school was founded by a group of concerned community members that felt it was of the utmost importance for Rochester to have a Jewish day school. An important policy was made right from the start—that the school would not be affiliated with any one congregation or denomination, but would be representative of the Jewish community overall. Its vision was to be that of a progressive American Jewish Day School.

Today, our student population ranges from conservative to reform, orthodox and the unaffiliated. Regardless of affiliation, all of our students receive an exceptional education and the warmth of a community that last a lifetime. Hillel Community Day School is also a member of the Greater Rochester Association of Private Schools (GRAPS).
